Rebellion Announces New Board Game Division

Rebellion, developer of the bestselling tactical shooter Sniper Elite franchise, has just announced an expansion into tabletop game development with their brand new board game division, Rebellion Unplugged. Befittingly, the first game from the studio will be Sniper Elite the Board Game.

Rebellion Unplugged will be headed by Duncan Molloy, the previous Founder and Creative Lead of board games at Osprey Games. The developer plans to “release new physical games and collectibles based on the company’s diverse and extensive collection of properties” and has several games currently in development. Attendees of PAX Unplugged in December will be able to play an early version of Sniper Elite the Board Game before its Kickstarter launch early next year.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be launching Rebellion Unplugged,” said Rebellion CEO and founder Jason Kingsley OBE. “My brother Chris and I have been making video games for more than 25 years, and our love of the medium has its roots in our childhood love of board games. We’ve got so many great games and comic book heroes and universes to draw from too, so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Rebellion’s IP library includes 2000 AD, upcoming “spy-fi lair builder” Evil Genius 2, as well as the popular Zombie Army series – with its next installment, Zombie Army 4: Dead War coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on February 4th. Further information can be found on the company’s website RebellionUnplugged.com.
