For the last 10 years, one of the longest continuous memes has involved one of Valve’s most popular titles. “Half-Life 3 confirmed!” A phrase that sent fanboys scouring the nether reaches of the internet. It has been 15 long years since Half-Life 2 was released. Even if we were to include Half-Life 2: Episode 2, it has been over 10 years since Half-Life has seen the light of day. Surprisingly, Valve has announced that a new Half-Life game is in development, confirming recent rumors and speculation. On Thursday, November 21st Valve will unveil Half-Life: Alyx.
At the moment, little information about Half-Life: Alyx has been revealed; the game will be a flagship VR game. The official announcement will be at 10:00 AM PT on November 21st. With a new Half-Life title being announced later this week, many are now wondering if Portal, Left 4 Dead, or DOTA could have a sequel or another entry in the works.
We’re excited to unveil Half-Life: Alyx, our flagship VR game, this Thursday at 10am Pacific Time.

Earlier this year, Valve released the Valve Index high-end, expensive VR headset, as well as the Valve Knuckles (which are also compatible with HTC Vive hardware) that allow for motions like squeezing, finger tracking, and more. This is why a major push using a recognizable brand like Half-Life makes a lot of sense in an effort to bring more users to the platform. Hopefully, Alyx will be compatible with the other headsets, as locking it to the Index as an exclusive could hurt the sales and support of the title.
We will just have to wait and see what Valve has in store for Half-Life: Alyx.
