Resident Evil 3 Remake Announced with Date

Over the last two months, Resident Evil 3 rumors have been widespread. Earlier this year Capcom released a remake of Resident Evil 2. The HD remake featured an over the shoulder perspective matching current Resident Evil camera angles. Last month, artwork was discovered for a rumored Resident Evil 3 remake but was not confirmed. This artwork would tease the Resident Evil’s community hopes of a remastered version of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis. Today, the RE3 rumor can finally be confirmed.

During Sony’s State of Play address Resident Evil 3 was officially announced. The HD remake of the game has also received an official release date and will use the RE Engine. Players will control Jill Valentine as she tries to survive the biohazard outbreak; she is joined by Carlos Oliveria who is meant to be a reliable companion to aid Jill. The events of Resident Evil 3 take place a few days prior to Resident Evil 2. Jill must survive the deadly outbreak while avoiding the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service. U.B.C.S is the private military force that is responsible for starting the outbreak in Racoon City. At some point, Jill will potentially encounter Umbrella’s Secret Service Delta Squad (Operation Racoon City) while fleeing from Nemesis. Nemesis is a superior version of the Tyrant seen is Resident Evil 2.

In addition to the RE 3 HD campaign announcement, Project Resistance will also be included. Project Resistance is a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer experience. Four Survivors will attempt to outlast the tricks and traps of the Mastermind, the fifth player. The Mastermind only wins if they are able to kill all four survivors before they can potentially escape. Lately, this game mode has become popular thanks to the Dead by Daylight franchise; the growth of the survival genre makes us wish that Microsoft had not canceled Fable Legends.

Resident Evil 3 HD will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam on April 3rd, 2020. Starting today, Gamers will have the opportunity to pre-order Resident Evil 3. All Preorders contain a classic costume pack for Jill and Carlos. North American gamers also have the opportunity to pre-order a Collector’s Edition of the game at GameStop for $179.99. The Collector’s Edition contains a physical copy of the game, a Jill Valentine statue, a digital soundtrack, an RE3 art book, and a reversible poster with a map of Raccoon City. All of these items will be packaged in an item box straight out of the game.
