A new episode of Daddy Gamer featuring everyone’s favorite water fowl from Untitled Goose Game has finally arrived after a ton of major updates to the show.
This past year I bought my own camera and a mic to put filming into my own hands rather than relying on borrowed equipment. I’m now working with a Sony RX10 II and it is a pretty great camera. It has a fixed lens, but that lens is pretty nice and has been modded with more RAM to better handle taking video for longer periods of time. For audio, I picked up two things. First is a mountable shotgun mic, the Vmic Mini from Saramonic. It mounts easily on top and is pretty affordable as mics go. It also has the ability to be used with a smartphone which maximizes my options for shooting and for recording interviews. I also picked up a Samson G Track Pro, which is perfect for live streams and recording VO. The biggest feature is it can be switched between Fig 8, Cardioid, Omni and Mono, and Stereo depending on your recording space and situation. It also has an input for another mic or instrument and has a built-in mixer to help balance the sound between the mic and the input! So while I definitely have room to improve my equipment, what I currently have works perfect for my needs! All of this made shooting the new episode go far smoother than many past episodes which is a relief! I see this being a good sign for more regular content in the future.
With the new year, I wanted to highlight a game that stood out for the whole family. While I have my own personal top game, that doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the game I’d recommend to a 5-year-old. Untitled Goose Game was easily the top game for all of us. It is silly, charming, and easy to play. You can read more about my thoughts in the full review!
Untitled Goose Game stood out as it was a game that each of us enjoyed in some capacity, even if it was just watching. Much of what I mentioned in the review is still true, Lil Gamer has taken to pretending to be a goose and playfully “stealing” things. She also laughs like a maniac when she plays.
This episode was a bit different to put together, mostly because Lil Gamer is now attending school full time. This means that I can’t as easily shoot during the weekdays anymore. There are times I miss having her around but I am certainly more productive while she’s at school. This presents a challenge though; I don’t necessarily want to spend all day Saturday or Sunday cramming a shoot in on an evening to get the episode together so I had to find a way to restructure the show to better fit our schedule. I think I managed to do that in having a few more silly bits and with Lil Gamer being less involved in the actual review portion. This allowed me to shoot myself easily during the week, and then have a much shorter shoot with Lil Gamer on a Saturday.
Everything about making this episode was fun, especially creating the thumbnail/title card with making us look like in-game characters! Lil Gamer was confused when I showed her the image asking “Why do I look like that?!”. After explaining that that’s what the people in the game look like she replied “No, why don’t I look like a goose!”.
I think the results speak for themselves, as this is definitely one of the best episodes yet! Don’t miss out and watch it now!
