For those of you living in the Boston area and those who simply love to travel to cons, get out your calendars and memo pads because PAX East 2020’s schedule is now live! Gotta say this looks like another interesting lineup. Stars of both the Indie and AAA industries will present their latest projects, upcoming releases, and informative industry panels. As always, this is an amazing experience during which developers, publishers, and their fans can teach, learn, and generally enjoy the weird, brilliant community that gaming has fostered!
Schedule Highlights
PAX always crowds the main show floor with gaming giants from all over the globe. Those giants in-turn are only too eager to announce new releases, provide game demos, answer questions, and tease upcoming projects. This year brings PAX veterans Square Enix and Supergiant Games back to the main stage. They are not alone, though, and bring with them a multitude of others.
For those interested not just in demos and reveals, there is a plethora of fascinating panels to attend. This year’s panels feature game designers, composers, writers, community leads and others to inform and entertain you. These professionals come from such touted studios as Ubisoft, Insomniac Games, and Niantic among others. Considering who is running them, these panels ought to be engrossing. Furthermore, some of your favorite streamers and content creators will be presenting as well! We have heard that IGN, Discord, Twitch, and PC Gamer are returning along with GameSpot, Magic: The Gathering, and various others!

The Convention Itself
For those of you unaware, PAX East is one of (if not THE) largest gaming conventions in America. The Penny Arcade Expo began in Seattle in 2004. Since then, attendance has nearly doubled almost every subsequent year. Thanks to their burgeoning popularity, PAX was able to open shows in Boston, San Antonio, and even overseas in Melbourne, Australia! They also developed additional conventions in the form of PAX Unplugged for tabletop games and PAX Dev for the game developers themselves.
It is actually through PAX East that this guy (points thumbs at himself) encountered and began contributing to Marooners’ Rock. All you need is ambition, charisma, curiosity, or even just luck. Who knows? You might find some great friends or even your next career path here. I just wish I could join along and welcome you all!
