A new direct has been announced, and it’s Pokemon “center”ed! On January 9th at 6:30 AM PT/9:30 AM ET. This announcement doesn’t give much clue into what it will be about but with it being so fresh off the heels of the release of Sword and Shield people are curious. These types of game or series centric events are reserved for new games, but we just got new games, so what could it be?
A few theories that come to mind are more Pokemon or special events for Sword and Shield or Pokemon Go. Social media is alive with the idea that they will be following their pattern the last few years with a remake of a previous generation in between new ones. Could we see a return to Sinnoh with Diamond and Pearl on the switch? It’s also possible that we could see a return to the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon or Pokemon Ranger series which hasn’t seen a new game in a few years. There could be some potential in a Pokken Tournament 2. Detective Pikachu showed some serious promise as a fun mystery and puzzle game and could learn from its shortfalls to something even better with a sequel on the Switch.
For the next few days the speculation will be all over the place because it could be so many different things. I personally think the most likely is either more Pokemon announced for Go or for Sword/Shield or Diamond and Pearl announced for Switch. One thing is for sure, whatever the Pokemon Direct is gonna focus on it’s going to draw a crowd. The main downside is we aren’t likely to see a proper Nintendo direct for another month.
So wake up early and tune in on January 9th 6:30 AM PT/9:30 AM ET for the latest in Pokemon News! What do you think is likely to come from this new Pokemon Direct? Comment your speculation!
