Rockers, the time draws near! We are less than a week away from PAX EAST 2020. With PAX East drawing near, our schedules are starting to become full; however, a new challenger prepares for battle against the hordes of PAX East attendees. Today, Nintendo has announced that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be at PAX EAST. At their booth, Animal Crossing fans will have the opportunity to try the first-ever public hands-on demos before the game releases on March 20th. With this announcement, it seems that Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons will clash before their official release. For those attending the event later this week, Nintendo has surprises in store.
In a press release earlier today, Nintendo announced a full-scale immersive experience for attendees to explore life-sized recreations inspired by the upcoming game’s idyllic island getaway setting. Attendees will have multiple photo opportunities in the Animal Crossing inspired environment; just a few costumed characters from the series, such as K.K. Slider, Isabelle, and Tom Nook will be available for pictures. Guests who play the Animal Crossing: New Horizons demo will receive a special Tom Nook themed tote bag, while supplies last.
The PAX East demo will give players a sneak peek into the single-player mode. In the game, players will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of relaxing activities within a deserted island setting, like crafting, gardening, fishing, interior and exterior decorating, and interacting with familiar Animal Crossing characters.
“We hope fans are eager to visit the deserted island paradise of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so this year at PAX East we’re bringing the island with us and inviting all attendees to play the game for the first time,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We’re looking forward to meeting with players and truly bringing our shared love of games to life.”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is not the only title that Nintendo is bringing to PAX EAST. Attendees will also have the opportunity to play demos of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. In the demo, the player will have the opportunity to explore the Wild Area to catch and battle Pokémon. Players can bond with Pokémon in Pokémon Camp while making curry and relaxing. The demo can also encounter giant Dynamax Pokémon in Max Raid Battles. For trying the demo, fans will receive a special postcard booklet featuring images from Galar, while supplies last.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield players are encouraged to bring their own games and systems to the show to team up with others to potentially encounter special Pokémon in Max Raid Battles and receive a special Pokémon pin, while supplies last. Guests will have the opportunity to take pictures with Pikachu, learn about the Sword and Shield Expansion Pass, and a guided demo of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX. Dedicated trainers have the opportunity to be invited onto Nintendo’s stage to participate in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Max Raid Battles.
Nintendo’s stage will welcome Luigi’s Mansion 3, showcasing the competitive ScreamPark mode, a mini-game battle to determine the ultimate ghost-hunting team.
