LET IT DIE Reaches Over 6 Million Downloads

Free-to-play hack and slash enjoys continued popularity on PC and PS4

Let it Die surpasses 6 million downloads

LET IT DIE, a free-to-play, roguelike hack and slash, has now surpassed six million downloads worldwide. This indie title has continued to grow in popularity since its original release for the PS4 in December 2016; the game also later launched on Steam in September 2018.

With this considerable milestone under their belt, the game’s developers GungHo Online Entertainment (GOE) and Grasshopper Manufacture have promised a celebratory in-game event. However, the specifics of said event have yet to be announced.

“We owe it entirely to our dedicated fanbase, our ‘senpais,’ for getting behind LET IT DIE and making this milestone possible. The journey with them has been a pleasure.” —Kazuki Morishita (GOE President and CEO)

For those of you unaware, LET IT DIE is a survival action game set in post-apocalyptic Japan. Players are dumped into this world with only their underwear to guard them against an “ultraviolent” future. Thus they must swiftly scavenge weapons and armor in order to survive (at least for a little while) in this rather over the top game. This soulslike adventure features a unique approach to character death, while the cartoonish Death berates anyone and everything, including the player through fourth-wall breaking banter. There’s a level of weirdness found in LET IT DIE that fits right alongside other games created by Grasshopper and Suda 51.

An English and Western Laws & Ethics graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Matt’s doing his best to find his way back to Middle Earth or Naboo. However, the closest he can get is reading, writing, or gaming, so he’s trying to accept his lack of pet dragons and devoting himself to those things instead. In his spare time, he practices traditional Chinese Ken-Po in the hopes that he will someday become an Earth Bender.
