Japanime Games and WILL Studios have partnered to promote Eiji Shishido’s newest TCG project: Alternate Souls. Shishido is the internationally acclaimed creator of the Force of Will trading card game. Starting (April 14th), you can support the Kickstarter which will launch the deck-building arena trading card and figurine game Alternate Souls!
Game Mechanics and Collection
Eiji Shishido’s Alternate Souls revolves around character cards and matching acrylic figurines. Players will build their decks with these cards and move the figurines around the arena in order to destroy their opposition. There is one key feature that Shishido added to the game, however.
The Souls System: This is a database for each player’s entire Alternate Souls collection. Every booster pack you open will contain a unique QR code along with the collectable character. Scanning this code tracks which characters and cards you have and enters the player in two competitions.
Each scanned code will enter the player for a chance to win a free trip to Japan to celebrate at the Festival of Ultimate Souls. What that is, we don’t know, but it could be fun!
In addition, whoever has the most of a particular character in each season will receive a unique alternate version of that character. They will also gain a set of one-of-a-kind foil promotional cards.
The Souls System also grants access to various promotional materials, such as alternate game art and character stands.
Details
Alternate Souls will release this year in both Japanese and English. However, the studios hope to bring the game to seven languages total, which would match what Force of Will supports.
The Kickstarter now launched and you can find it here, so please keep an eye on their Facebook page here if you want to stay informed! They likewise have a Discord server that you can investigate here.
