Cradle Games and tinyBuild have decided to postpone releasing Hellpoint until later in Quarter 2. That is any time between now and the end of June. This dark sci-fi RPG was originally scheduled to hit PC and consoles in April.
Why The Delay And What They Will Do With The time
Give you one guess to name the cause. Yep! You got it! It’s our global pandemic. Just like many other industries, gaming has been hit by the COVID-19 situation, squirreling everything from releases to the development itself. However, Cradle Games promises that they will not let the time go to waste!
In light of the unprecedented events facing the world, we have been forced to postpone the launch of the game. We plan to use the additional development time not just for polishing, but also to address the feedback we’ve gathered and make Hellpoint an even better gaming experience for everybody! The feedback of the community had such enthusiasm and energy. – Matt Boudreau, Cradle Games Creative Director
About Hellpoint
Hellpoint opens with you awakening on the Irid Novo space station. Unfortunately, a massive quantum catastrophe has set the station into a degrading orbit toward a black hole. As if that were not enough, though, there seem to be other, more malicious forces at work aboard the station.
Cradle Games has indicated that player choice will mold the story’s progression. What we know for sure, though, is that this game is designed to be challenging. This devastated space station provides the scene to souls-like gameplay and unsettling enemies.
Hellpoint blends both science fiction with fantasy, somewhat like Mass Effect, yet takes a far darker approach, like Doom. Furthermore, your actions will have consequences. As you play, even your deaths are tallied. The game’s Quantic System adapts to your repeated demises, altering the game world and triggering new events.
Unlike the souls games, however, Hellpoint will feature a local co-op option! At any point, another player can drop in and share the uninterrupted story with you. Woohoo! More sociability in gaming! Players can likewise call for online assistance. We recently had hands-on time with the game during PAX East 2020 that you can read here.
