New User Profile Icons

Six (6) new profile icons from Animal Crossing: New Horizons are now available! As if we didn’t have enough icons on the Nintendo Switch already? Wow…

Transfer Software Data Between the System and an SD Card

You can now move downloadable software, DLCs, and update data from the Switch’s base memory to an SD card or the other way around! If your SD cards are as disorganized as mine, this will be a major relief! However, Nintendo did caution that save data and some update data cannot be transferred to an SD card. What the specifics are remains unclear.

Remap Controller Buttons

You can now change the analog stick and button arrangements for each paired controller on the Switch. You can save custom configurations as favorites in the System Settings and Controllers and Sensors menu. Up to five configurations can be customized for each the left and right Joy-Cons and the Pro Controller.

Bookmark Your News

You can now bookmark news items! The update accommodates up to 300 bookmarks. However, you must still have an active internet connection to read anything that you have previously bookmarked. Furthermore, if a news item is removed, then you will still be unable to view it even if it was bookmarked.

Display/Delete Play Activity Options Moved

The options for “Display activity to:” and “Delete Play Activity” are now in the new Play Activity Settings. They are no longer in the Friend Settings menu.

Last Bits

In addition to these new features, Nintendo also assures us that they have fixed various bugs. As they put it, this update includes “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.”

Hope you all enjoy the new features!

An English and Western Laws & Ethics graduate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Matt’s doing his best to find his way back to Middle Earth or Naboo. However, the closest he can get is reading, writing, or gaming, so he’s trying to accept his lack of pet dragons and devoting himself to those things instead. In his spare time, he practices traditional Chinese Ken-Po in the hopes that he will someday become an Earth Bender.
