Super Mario Maker 2 will receive its final, free update for the Nintendo Switch on April 22nd. This update adds a new World Maker mode alongside previously unseen features and content to the popular level-creation game.
World Maker: The Big Update
In this mode, you can combine multiple courses that you have created into a world map. Furthermore, you can customize the map’s visuals for extra flair. With this update, you can combine up to eight worlds and up to forty courses in Super Mario Maker 2. With enough ambition, players can create their own Super Mario game and share it with others online.
Bonus Characters
If you wanted more variety in your courses, then you get your wish in this update. All seven Koopalings, each with their own movement patterns, will be available for user-created courses. In addition, there will be other new enemies such as Mechakoopas and the key-snatching Phanto.
Bonus Features
The update will also bring additional power-ups and course parts. One example is the SMB2 (Super Mario Brothers 2) mushroom. This will transform Mario and the others into their SMB2 appearances and enable lifting and throwing items and enemies. They are hearkening back to the classics, it seems and makes for more mechanics to explore.
Likewise from SMB3, the update includes the Frog Suit, enabling swimming and running on water. You will also see the Power Baloon (Super Mario World), the Super Acorn (New super Mario Bros. U), and the Boomerang Flower (Super Mario 3D World). Similarly, there are also five variants for clothing such as the Cannon and Propeller boxes from Super Mario 3D World. 
In Other News
Nintendo announced that Mario Kart Tour (mobile) will feature Builder Mario and Builder Toad on May 5th. During the Trick Tour on that day (11 p.m. PT on April 21st to 10:59 p.m. PT on May 5th), players can strive to obtain these new drivers. Those drivers can in turn be used to earn in-game rewards.
As we said before, though, Mario Kart Tour is only free to START playing, not indefinitely. Keep that in mind if you want to download it.
