For those who were alive in the ’90s, you probably have a list of games that you loved from that era; games such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Ocarina of Time, Final Fantasy 7, and even Pokemon Red and Blue top the list. At the end of the ’90s, one franchise shocked everyone by rolling in from out of nowhere. With nostalgia dominating the video game industry for the last decade, it comes as no surprise when another remastering of a ’90s early 2000’s title is announced. This time, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 will have the opportunity to shine.

Announced earlier today as part of the Summer Game Fest, Activision unveiled that Vicarious Visions has been working on a remastering of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2; The two remasterers of the beloved franchise are scheduled to roll out on September 4th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The remastered edition will bring back the original levels, skaters, tricks,  game modes, and excitingly the soundtrack. According to Vicarious Visions, they rebuilt Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 using the original Neversoft Code as the game’s foundation. After laying the groundwork, the team has updated the controls for use with modern controllers.

TPS1&2 Returning

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will feature both online and local couch play. This means players will have the opportunity to skate against their friends and other skaters around the world. Excitingly, Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater modes are back; however, new to Create- A-Park is an edition tool that will enable new ways of customization. Players will then be able to share parks online with friends and other skaters with customization options.

The remasterings will include a complete roster of original pro talent; this includes Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen, Rune Glifberg, Kareem Campbell, Jamie Thomas, and Bob Burnquist. Alongside the talent, players will the opportunity to create new characters with new customization tools. The game will also feature an expanded array of goals and challenges to amp up your gameplay.

Collaboration and Expanded Editions

In celebration of the reveal, Activision has teamed up with JablinskiGames on YouTube to provide the world’s first look at gameplay from the iconic Warehouse level. As you know with Jack Black almost everything is comedic; so with this partnership, gamers can watch as Jack Black and Tony Hawk offer hilarious commentary and banter while playing the level together.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Remastering will be available worldwide for $39.99 USD. A digital deluxe version that includes unique content and in-game gear will be available for $49.99. An Ultimate Fan collector’s edition will be available for $99.99 in the U.S. The collector’s edition comes with the digital deluxe content and a limited-run Birdhouse deck.

Those who digitally pre-order Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC will receive access to the Warehouse Demo ahead of the game’s official launch. The demo will be available to download at a later date.
