Bettie’s Bombers and Softgiving launch fundraising to support local EMS.

In these trying times, many are coming together to help others, and in the wake of the pandemic, the issue of mental health has become far more important than ever before. An up-and-coming non-profit charity will be spearheading this charge with the help of the various agencies in the field. This agency is the New Jersey-based Bettie’s Bombers, and they look to bomb the stigma of mental health.

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness/ Military Appreciation Month in May, and PTSD Awareness Month in June, Bettie’s Bombers is launching a new fundraising campaign, thanks to the specialized fundraising platform, Softgiving. Softgiving, which focuses specifically on supporting first responders and the military, will be participating in the event, along with collaboration with Brigade Esports and Shotcall, . The goal is to raise funds for the organization as it prepares to address the mental health concerns that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic. Bettie’s Bombers calls their initiative Operation Mutual AId, or OMA. This specific operation will focus on helping a local EMS squad gain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The event will take place from May 25th to June 7th. PR Marketing agency Uberstratgist gave more details to the details.

“Betties Bombers is a New Jersey-based nonprofit organization that provides peer support for emergency medical services (EMS), firefighters, police, and veterans by utilizing video games to engage communities and promote mental wellness. Their latest fundraising project, Operation Mutual Aid, has a goal of raising $20,000 for advertising, training, and certifications for volunteer peer specialists, funding for their charity programs, and most importantly, to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for a US-based EMS squad to help them battle COVID-19. The winning squad will be chosen by the person or streamer who raises the most funds during the campaign. “

“In conjunction with Brigade Esports and Shotcall.gg, Betties Bombers will be presenting a live stream during the two-week fundraising event to help garner donations for Operation Mutual Aid, which can be watched on Twitch and Mixer. Details and sign-ups are available in the Betties Bombers Discord. Brigade Esports will also be hosting a preliminary event Saturday at 3 PM EST that will run for 12+ hours up to 24 on their Twitch Channel. Additionally, Shotcall.gg is offering “playdates” during OMA where donors can sign up to play with one of their favorite influencers one-on-one by making a donation to reserve a playtime.”

Founded in 2019 by former 9-1-1 dispatcher Stephanie Owens, Bettie’s Bombers seeks to specifically focus on mental health awareness, but more importantly, education through participation. The charity has set up a Discord for volunteers and guests curious about the charity, and invite all to participate. Stephanie has several decades of first-responder experience under her belt, responding to various emergencies and health issues in her lifetime. She has witnessed firsthand the mental and physical toll that the job of first responders can leave upon those working hard to keep communities safe and secure. This was most especially seen during Superstorm Sandy, which impacted the lives of millions in New Jersey, including Stephanie.  She is hoping with the formation of Bettie’s Bombers, she, along with her crew of volunteers, can make a huge difference in the lives of first responders, especially as New Jersey finds itself in the epicenter of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The fundraising for OMA begins on May 25th and concludes at the end of June 7th. The event will take place on Discord, Twitch, and Mixer. Follow Bettie’s Bombers on Facebook and Twitter. The charity is open to all, including civilians, gaming enthusiasts, first responders, and military personnel.
