Beyond Blue slated for release June 11th

E-Line Media and Evolve PR proudly announced that the highly-anticipated underwater adventure, Beyond Blue, is setting sail. Beyond Blue is launching on June 11th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Beyond Blue has been in development for several years, in collaboration with the BBC Studios, the team behind Blue Planet. Having followed Beyond Blue for several years, Beyond Blue has gone through a steady level of growth and development. Now, the game is ready to be seen by all.

The setting for Beyond Blue is below.

Set in the near future, players will probe the mysteries of our ocean through the eyes of Mirai, the lead on a newly formed research team that will use groundbreaking technologies to see, hear, and sense the ocean in a more meaningful way than has ever been attempted. The game will feature both an evocative narrative and high-level resource management, challenging the player to make high-stakes decisions and prioritize which objectives can be successfully achieved during the crew’s expedition. Embracing the same inclusive development process that was used to create Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna), E-Line’s BAFTA award-winning game about Alaska Native culture, the company paired world-class game makers with some of the field’s leading ocean experts to craft an experience that reflects the awesome wonder and unbounded mystery that infuses our planet’s beating blue heart.

I have spent several sessions with Beyond Blue at past conventions, and each time, the game continues to be mesmerizing and awe-inspiring. The sensations of underwater exploration is captured with an incredible level of polish, sheen, and detail. Each session, I truly felt like Iw as underwater, absorbed by the clean and immersed in a world of wonder and discovery. It was relaxing, fascinating, but most importantly, an important reminder that the lifeblood of the Earth is the ocean. The story is incredibly authentic as well, focusing on a personal story of Mirai, but also surrounded by real-world oceanographic and scientific technologies. Players use advanced acoustic and sonar technologies to make important choices in searching and studying the ocean, as well as the wildlife that inhabits it. For me, Beyond Blue is shaping up to be the best since 1997’s Treasures of the Deep.
