Over the last decade, the fate of the Halo Franchise has been in doubt. Despite receiving critical acclaim, many felt Halo Reach was the begging of the demise of the Halo franchise. Despite industry and public reviews of each following Halo title dropping, the series still remains a steadfast corner point of the Xbox franchise. At E3 2018, Microsoft Unveiled Halo Infinite to the world. Since then, many have speculated whether or not Halo Infinite was Halo 6 or a stand-alone title. Today, a new message was intercepted on the Halo Infinite Twitter account; this message teases towards a known Halo enemies return.
In the teaser video posted to the Halo Infinite twitter, a familiar voice can be heard on the intercepted message. In the video, the transmission is deciphered and a voice that sounds similar to Atriox discusses plans of domination. For those who are unfamiliar with Atriox, he is the leader of the Banished. The Banished are a splinter group of former Covenant members. They are considered more ruthless and aggressive than their Covenant counterparts. Going against the beliefs of the Covenant, the Banished were exiled. Halo fans were first introduced to the Banished in Halo Wars 2. Halo Wars 2 takes place after the events of Halo 5.
The story of Halo Wars 2 depicts the UNSC Spirit of Fire’s battle against the Banished. Many fans of the franchise have craved the opportunity to shoot the Banished. The trailer alludes that the Banished are on their way to the ring and will take out all that are in their way.
