Every year, Doritos partners with multiple developers to advertise upcoming games. Over the last decade, Frito-Lays has partnered with Activision to promote Overwatch and Call of Duty. Over the last three months, many have suspected that Activision would formally announce the next Call of Duty; this is due to Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War leaking earlier this year. Instead of announcing the next major title, Activision announced Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. Now, it would appear that Frito-Lays has done what Activision has not. However, an image has emerged potentially leaking the next game’s release date.
Earlier this morning, IGN’s Adam Bankhurst, former Marooners’ Rock writer, reported on the newest Call of Duty Leak. In the post, he credits TheGameRevolution as the first person to publically release information about Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. Late last night, the Game Revolution received an anonymous DM with two pictures attached. These two pictures were the front and back of a Doritos back for an upcoming promotion for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. At first, the user was uncertain about the authenticity and any copyright issues; however, after a notable Call of Duty focused account, CharlieIntel shared the same images, they posted them to twitter. This is not the first time an Activision game has been leaked due to promotional material.
Promotion Dates
According to the Doritos bag, the promotion will begin on October 5, 2020. This means that it will most likely release in October. The bag shows the promotion running until January 31st, 2021. With these images leaking, we can expect Activision or Treyarch to formally announce Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War; we will most likely see the formal announcement later this week. This is the longest Activision has taken to announce an upcoming title.
These are the two Doritos Double XP promotional images that I was DM'd earlier from an anonymous source for Call of Duty 2020 Black Ops Cold War. I was too worried about copyright issues to post them earlier but since CharlieIntel shared them I (assume?) they're safe. pic.twitter.com/yvvjH7CvKU
