Since its reveal during the Sony PlayStation press conference, Counterplay Games’ Godfall has made gamers around the world question what is Godfall? According to Counterplay Games, Godfall is a hack and slash looter. This style game has lately been criticized due to companies monetizing bonuses to boost gameplay. During an interview with Arrekz Gaming, Counterplay Games technical producer Richard Heyne introduced a new Valorplate as well as addressing some key concerns players might have. The interview video is a bit long but in the next few paragraphs, we will be summarizing its contents.
Godfall will have players controlling remnants of the Knight’s Order as they travel through a number of realms to stop the mad god Macros. These remaining knights will make use of different Valorplates to take down the mad god; the new Valorplate introduced during the interview is the Hinterclaw.
The Hinterclaw’s main passive is a 10 percent increased critical strike chance. You can further increase the critical chance by 30 percent with an active ability. As such, this class is all about aggression and landing critical strikes for as much damage as possible. Its Archon Mode, which is its “Ultimate ability”, allows the player to summon three allies to fight alongside you; it also increases the critical damage dealt by 20 percent for every enemy killed (up to 200 percent).
Players should keep in mind that Valorplates do not determine your move set, so you have the ability to create strong critical hit builds centered around slower, more debilitating weapons or lighter weapons with more strikes.
Godfall will not be a game as a service title but will allow players to loot and grind similar to Diablo and other dungeon crawlers; this means that there will be no microtransactions to increase players stats. In addition, Godfall’s Campaign will allow for either singleplayer or a cooperative experience throughout the entire story. Unlike other looters, Counterplayer Games has promised plenty of end game content providing challenges and additional loot to collect to increase stats.
Godfall will release on the PS5 and PC, through the Epic Game Store, this holiday season.
