Ubisoft announced that Watch Dogs: Legion will launch on October 29, 2020 across PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and on PC via Epic Games and Uplay. UPLAY+ subscribers will also have access to the new title. Once the next-generation Xbox X and PS5 launch, they too will have versions of Legion available.
Cinematic Trailer and Setting
Watch Dogs: Legion opens on a picture of London in distress. The people are discontent, the economy is wretched, security is questionable, and terrorist actions are a constant threat. To add gasoline to the fire, an unknown entity calling themselves Zero-Day frames DedSec for a series of coordinated bombings across the city. DedSec is an underground resistance groupwhich the player is a part of. After the bombings, though, the government shattered and the power vacuum encouraged all maner of filth and predators to fill the void. Working for the people, the player and DedSec will combat opportunists of every form: mercenaries, cybercriminals, organized crime syndicates, and people who simply enjoy inflicting pain. Those are only to name a few, though. To match the variety of opposition, the player must prepare a variety of solutions. While fighting to free London and recruit agents, the player will be moving ever toward unmasking Zero-Day.
Gameplay
Legion boasts that it allows players to recruit anyon to be a part of DedSec. And by “anyone,” they mean anyone. Any character that the player can find in the open world is available for recruitment. Each recruit will have their own skills and weapons, reflecting the variety of backgrounds and occupations resident to London, including an MI6 agent and even an old lady.
That being said, you can only recruit up to forty at a time. Still, that is a fairly substantial number granting plenty of freedom in play styles. Players can choose to control any of their recruited characters in order to address various problems. The right tool for the right job, no?
