The launch of the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 are just around the corner. While many are still not sold on why they should by a next-generation console, others have started to save up for the upcoming release. At the moment, no official price has been announced for either console; however, with only five months remaining in 2020, the official release date and price should be announced soon. In anticipation, many gamers have decided to stop purchasing games leading up to the release. Because of this, the August 2020 Games with Gold and PS+ offers will help gamers save money.
Each month, Xbox and PlayStation gamers argue which free games line up is better, PS+ or Games with Gold. Prior to June, the Games with Gold and PS+ offers battle back and forth for supremacy. However, over the last three months, PS+ has seemed like a better program offering multiple AAA titles. Between June and August, PS+ has offered CoD WW2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, NBA 2k20, Erica, and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Meanwhile, Xbox’s Games with Gold (GWG) program has offered the original Destroy All Humans, Coffee Talk, WRC 8, Dunk Lords, and Saints Row 2. Now Xbox’s lineup may be more diverse, but the PS+ offer draws more focus.
The August 2020 Lineups
Now at the time of this article, Gold members can still download Dunk Lords through GWG; Dunk Lords is free until August 15th. The August 2020 PS+ offers are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered (July 28th to August 31st) and Fall Guys (August 4th to August 31st). The August 2020 Games with Gold offers are Portal Knights (August 1 to August 31), Override: Mech City Brawl (August 16 to September 15), MX Unleashed (August 1 to August 15) and Red Faction II (August 16-August 31). Comparing the two offers, the PS+ offers turn more heads.
Personally, I am more excited about the PS+ offers than the Games with Gold offers. The GWG lineup does offer variety but many will just play it for a few hours and then delete it.
