Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Officially Announced

Black Ops Cold War Teaser Trailer

Over the last week, the Call of Duty community has banded together to solve a mysterious set of clues. These clues led the Call of Duty community to pawntakespawn.com/tv after multiple COD influencers received a mysterious package. In the package was a projector with multiple slides. Originally the site only featured an old tube TV and a VCR. Throughout the week, the site was updated with new VHS tapes becoming available. These tapes led the COD community to scavenge WarZone to decipher the clues. After a week of clues, Activision and Treyarch have formally announced Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.

This reveal has split the Call of Duty community with many feeling underwhelmed. Earlier this year, a Doritos bag was leaked showing the Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War logo with dates for a 2X XP Dates. Despite the leak, Activision did not announce the upcoming game. We all can agree that 2020 is a weird year. By this point, Activision would have formally revealed the current year’s Call of Duty; however, due to a pandemic and the cancellation of E3, the reveal was delayed.

Today, Activision posted an unlisted video on the Call of Duty YouTube channel titled Know Your History. This video comes as no surprise since the Pawn Takes Pawn website has updated daily with new VHS Tapes depicting key moments throughout the Cold War. You can still head over to Pawn Takes Pawn to look at the tapes.

Know Your History Details

The Know Your History trailer starts off with KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov issuing a warning to the world. He states that a KGB agent codename Perseus has infiltrated the western world. His mission is to impede the progress of the US so the Soviet Union can win the Arms Race. The trailer goes on to tell viewers to know their history or they will be doomed to repeat it.  This final phrase hits close to home since History seems to be repeating itself in The United States. Is the Cold War truly over or have we been lured into a false sense of security? More information about Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will be released on August 26th, 2020.
