Earlier this week, Activision sent projectors and slides to a variety of Call of Duty personalities; these slides would lead the content creators and influencers to Call of Duty Black Ops 4. After exploring CoD: BO4, the group discovered a variety of clues leading to the 1972 chess match between Boris Spassky and Rober James Fisher. After studying the film, @Noah J456 and other community members discovered that the moves in the match correlated with different letters that led the community to Pawntakespawn.com/tv. The website showed an older TV with a VCR showing the numbers “8-14” and “12:00”. Instead of a Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War trailer, the world received a 1961 videotape.
Before diving into what the videotaped showed, we will also be briefly be covering Call of Duty League and Astro news. Today while many expected a formal announcement about Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Activision announced new Call of Duty merchandise; although merchandise can be fun to own, it is not as exciting as a new video game announcement. If you are interested in a CDL DuffleBag you can click here. If you are interested in potentially winning a limited-edition Call of Duty League Edition A40 TR headsets with team speaker tags, you can click here; the giveaway ends on August 18th. Look for our review of the Astro A40’s later this month.
Black Ops Cold War Clues
Now back to the news that we actually care about. August 14th, has past and no official announcement has been made, only a new set of codes and a videotape labeled 1961 to 1962 volume 1. On the TV, a sticky note has two phrases EMC2 and tangledweb. During the video, varying numbers appear on the screen. These numbers are 37, 25, and 48 in addition “WZ-H6-49285 163 displays on the VCR. The VCR message directs players to a farmland (H6) in WarZone.
Using the codes players were able to enter a locked room within a farmhouse. This locked room holds a bunch of documents, cyphers, and an old computer mainframe. These ciphers and clues may help the community solve today’s puzzle. If you go to https://pawntakespawn.com/emc2, you can see a blacked-out agenda. If each blacked outline represents a single day, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will be announced on August 19th.
Inspecting the coding of the page there are some interesting phrases. The coding contains the phrases “Unravel the Secrets” and “Every Battle is Won Before it is ever fought.” The second quote is most likely related to Sun Tzu’s The Art of War. Below we will include a video of the room and a close up of the documents.
The code displayed on the VCR display opens a locked door at the Krovnik Farmland in #Warzone.
