Yakuza is a unique series of games with numerous entries into its ever growing saga and known for its excellent cinematography, dramatic storytelling, dynamic characters, and over the top brawler action. Filling in that strange void left by Shenmue for so many years. Combination of action and daily life appealed to many gamers and lived on with the Yakuza franchise. So while a new game in the franchise, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, wasn’t necessarily surprising news, the fact that it is straight up a turn based RPG and won’t feature main protagonist Kiryu certainly is. We’ve seen a decent number of trailers and updates about the development of Yakuza: Like a Dragon with one major question remaining.
When is it being released?
According to a new trailer released August 24th the date to mark on our calendars is November 13th, 2020 and will be available on Xbox One X, Xbox One, Windows 10, Playstation 4, and Steam platforms. It will be available on Xbox Series X on day 1 of the console release, and Playstation 5 at a later date.
The trailer also shows off some of the various unique moves and visual flair that will be found in the upcoming entry in the Yakuza franchise. Asking the question “How Will You Rise” and showcasing the various jobs available throughout the game. Seems like various jobs will come with moves and costumes distinct to those jobs. From breakdancer, to musician, to casino dealer, to chef you can expect the over the top absurdity to continue to be a mainstay in Yakuza: Like a Dragon even when contained to turn based combat.
Come November 13th, will you be ready to bust skulls and bake souffles in this unexpected RPG take on Yakuza?
