It may be September, but that doesn’t mean Halloween can’t be celebrated now. Red Art Games has announced that classic indie horror game, Kholat, is getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch. The news comes from PR Hound, which has given the details as to what to expect regarding the physical release of Kholat.
“We are very proud to announce the physical version of Kholat on Nintendo Switch – one of the best titles to usher in the new school term!” – Michael Binkowski – CEO of Red Art Games.
Kholat was originally released not he PS4, Xbox One, and PC a few years ago, garnering great praise and support for its setting and gameplay. With a narration by Sean Bean, who clearly doesn’t die in this game, players plunge into a frozen wasteland searching for missing students who mysteriously disappeared upon Kholat Syakhl. The game has players investigate the mysterious disappearance of several Russian students in February 1959. Kholat is based on the real-life Dyatlov Pass Incident, where several Russian Hikers died under mysterious circumstances on February 2nd, 1959.
In Kholat, players explore a hostile, open-world, guided only by their compass and maps. In an age without GPS or thermal imaging, players utilize their wits and their limited supply to survive the elements and find the truth behind the hiker’s disappearance. As players navigate the unforgiving landscape, the fear of getting lost emits a foreboding voice and perhaps the appearance of ghostly figures. The physical edition of Kholat will come with a physical cart and a cardboard cover sleeve.
