In today’s day in age, information is right at our fingertips. The latest and greatest news can be accessed from anywhere in the world. With that accessibility comes a huge risk. Video game companies are constantly subjected to their projects leaking early. These leaks can come from outside sources, though often they are leaked from within the company. In the wake of July’s Giga Leak, Nintendo just can’t seem to escape being exposed. Today, Nintendo’s Game Finder page accidentally revealed a new Kirby Fighters game.
Kirby Fighters initially started out as a sub-game in Kirby’s 3DS outing, Kirby Triple Deluxe. This mini-game featured different Kirbys fighting one another using a selected copy ability. The game played similarly to Super Smash Bros, in that it is also a 2D fighter. It featured many items, bosses, and stage hazards, to add variety to each fight. Later in 2014, Nintendo released Kirby Fighters Deluxe, a full-fledged version, on the 3DS eShop. This edition featured many upgrades, tweaks, and additional content. Kirby Fighters Deluxe received a very mixed reception. Many criticized the game for being too similar to its mini-game counterpart. Others enjoyed the change of pace and praised its additional features. Nearly six years after its initial release, Nintendo accidentally confirmed Kirby Fighters 2.
Nintendo’s Game Finder feature, on its website, helps parents discover games suitable for their children. Earlier today, using this site feature and selecting “Nintendo Switch systems” under “Which system do they play on?” revealed information on the new Kirby title. This revealed the game’s eShop icon, as well as its $19.99 USD price point. Kirby Fighters 2’s description was visible, however, there were no screenshots or gameplay. This excerpt reveals new abilities, in addition to new fighters!
Excerpt:
“Choose from a cast of Kirby’s most iconic copy abilities—including the brand-new Wrestler ability—and duke it out to be the last Kirby standing. Familiar friends and foes like Bandana Waddle Dee and King Dedede also make an appearance as playable characters in the Kirby Fighters 2 game, available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system.”
