Pittsburgh-based Schell games took to the PlayStation Blog this week to announce the release date if it’s highly anticipated VR hack-and-slash Until You Fall. The neon-soaked action game is leaving early access, and in addition to launching version 1.0 on Steam VR, the game will be launching on the PSVR as well.
The news comes from Adam Kunata, who took to the PlayStation Blog to discuss the game, its release, and the four different archetypes that Until You Fall will feature. As the game is combat-heavy Until You Fall gives players four archetypes to better suit players. The archetypes were built after much research and consideration from players participating in the Early Access program. Some players liked to strategically land their blows, while others preferred magic over brawn. For these and other behaviors, four archetypes were made: Tactician, Bruiser, Rogue, and Spellsword. Learning each type’s abilities will help players immensely in this VR action roguelike.
Until You Fall is an action-packed adventure, where players embrace the role of the Rune Knight, entering a twisted landscape of bright neon colors coupled with a roaring synth-wave soundtrack. Until You Fall uses a full range of motion, requiring both arms for attack and defense.
Having played Until You Fall last year at PAX WEST, the game already impressed me, with it’s drinking presentation and incredibly addictive gameplay. Most games in this genre are locked into being wave shooters or using a single melee weapon. However, Until You Fall uses both arms for duel melee combat with a wide range. During my time with Until You Fall, multiple enemies surrounded me, and the game allowed me to fight one enemy while deflecting the other. It was unlike anything I and ever played, with it’s intense, cinematic-style gameplay.
Until You Fall arrives September 29th for PSVR and Steam.
