For months, the Call of Duty community has eagerly awaited information about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. At the end of August, Activision and Treyarch revealed new gameplay information about the Black Ops Cold War’s Campaign. Despite seeing Alex Mason again, many felt shorted due to a lack of multiplayer coverage. Last month, Activision unveiled the Cold War multiplayer and started the live beta for PlayStation 4 members. At the end of the multiplayer trailer, a short clip teased Cold War Zombies mode. For many Black Ops fans, Nazi Zombies mode is the lifeblood of the series.
Since its reveal earlier this year, Treyarch has used the PawntakesPawn website to tease and unveil new information. These teasers led the Call of Duty community to discover information located in Warzone about C.o.D Black Ops Cold War. At the end of September, the PawntakesPawn website was updated with new videos; these videos led the Call of Duty community to new information about Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode.
Yesterday afternoon, Activision confirmed information gathered from the pawntakespawn clues. In an 8 min trailer, the Call of Duty community learned new information about Black Ops Cold War Zombies.
What We Learned
The next zombies’ map called Die Maschine takes place at Nacht Der Untoten. A group known as Requiem, led by Grigori Weaver from the original Black Ops story, will be sent in to discover its mysteries. Also looking to discover Die Maschine’s secrets is a Soviet group called The Omega Group. During the trailer, a woman known as Sam stresses the urgency to discover the bases mysteries; some suspect that this Sam is the adult version of Sam from the original zombies’ story mode. During the trailer, we can see the return of the original Zombies’ perk machines.
In addition, Zombies will be a cross-platform/cross-generation experience. Here are just some of the new features according to the Call of Duty Blog.
- Classic Zombies Perks are back with a Cold War aesthetic. Now there’s no limit to how many different Perks you can use at the same time.
- Playing Cold War Zombies will advance your Battle Pass and you can start the match with your very own Gunsmith-crafted loadout.
- All weapons now will have a rarity associated with them. And of course, higher rarity means greater damage and attachments.
- You can deploy Field Upgrades such as buffs, heals, or revives. Charge them up by killing zombies, then deploy them in crucial times.
- There are equipment items scattered around the map. Tactical equipment is similar to the equipment in multiplayer like Frag Grenades, while support equipment is high-powered offensive weaponry such as Grenade Launchers, Sentry Turrets, Explosive Bows, and even Chopper Gunners.
- And last but not least, the new Exfil system. Instead of waiting to die to the zombie horde, you can opt to exfiltrate via helicopter. Although one thing to remember, zombie spawns will crank up by a lot but you could gain some extra rewards… if you survive.
