It’s time to defend the Earth once again for what seems like the fifth time. The 2018 smash-hit Earth Defense Force 5 has landed in physical format for PlayStation 4 owners in Europe and North America. For those that missed out on the digital release, or prefer digital over physical, PQUBE games has released a physical version of Earth Defense Force 5, that can be picked up today.
The news comes from PQUBE Games, publisher of various indie games such as Evergate and Inertial Drift. This publisher also specializes in the release of anime video games such as Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate. Following the release of Earth Defense Force 5 in December 2018, PQUBE has worked with developers Sandlot and D3 Publisher on the release of a physical copy. For North America collectors, Earth Defense Force 5 is available on Video Game Plus, and for buyers in Europe, Amazon UK has copies of the game in stock.
The Improvements
Earth Defense Force 5 is the most recent iteration of the classic and immensely popular arcade shooter, which has seen releases on almost all PlayStation platforms, including the PlayStation Vita handheld gaming system. Earth Defense Force 5 puts players in the fight of their lives and the lives of all on Earth. In 2022, aliens once-again launch an all-out assault upon the world, with the front lines being in the Kanto region of Japan. As a member of the elite Earth Defense Force, players fight the enemy head one. From giant robots to giant bugs to spaceships, the enemy is bringing everything they have to defeat the puny humans of Earth, except, they messed with the wrong military. Players choose one of four classes and battle it out in the streets of Kanto. Players choose from well over 100 weapons, and each class has an entirely different style of play.
Compared to previous iterations, EDF5 is bigger, better, and more dangerous. Bullets rip enemies to shreds and gargantuan spaceships annihilate the battlefield. The choice of weapons and their upgradeable attributes invites the player to keep players, and the fact that the entire game can be played in co-op makes Earth Defense Force 5 all the much more enjoyable to play. For the first time in the series, players fight humanoid alien enemies, in addition to the series staple enemies of bugs and robots. These giant aliens possess cutting edge weapons and will require speed and aggression to bring down.
