Back at the start of 2020, EA announced that it was planning to release four “secret” AAA games before April 2021. During their earnings call, the team was vague about upcoming projects but hinted that fans would know two of the franchises. So far during 2020, EA has released Madden 21, Fifa 21, NHL 21, UFC 4, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, and Star Wars Squadrons; although three of these are reoccurring franchises, they are still AAA titles, so EA has actually outdone themselves. Despite going beyond expectations, one rumored series had yet to be formally announced. However, today, EA has confirmed the existence of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.
Today, as part of N7 day, Bioware officially announced Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. This edition combines the original three Mass Effect games into one remastered collection. The new release will feature improved visuals, textures, and all previously released single-player DLC and content. The Collection is not a full remastering but aims to improve and clean-up the original games so both new and returning players can experience the classic RPG trilogy in its “best possible form.” The improvements include new shaders, improved character models and textures, higher resolutions, and improved framerates. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be without Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer mode.

The Future of Mass Effect
Vice President of Bioware, Casey Hudson, went on record to say a new Mass Effect is currently in development. Hopefully, it will not be like Mass Effect: Andromeda. Here is what he has to say,
Meanwhile here at BioWare, a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is scheduled to be released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. The Legendary collection is scheduled to arrive in the Spring of 2021.
