The developers behind Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons and A Way Out are back. During The Game Awards, Hazelight debuted a trailer for their upcoming game, It Takes Two; this is the second Hazelight title to be published by EA. It Takes Two is a co-op experience that is about two humans being turned into dolls. In this narrative adventure, Cody and May must overcome obstacles to save their fractured relationship. The game will provide a variety of challenges such as piloting a pair of underpants, DJing a buzzing night club. or swinging across gaps.
Like A Way Out, It Takes Two will feature online Co-Op Play. As long as one player owns the game, another player will be able to join through Friendpass. Below are Josef Fares and Steve Pointon’s thoughts on the upcoming game.
Hazelight – Josef
Josef Fares, Founder and Game Director at Hazelight Studios:
“At Hazelight, we’re always looking to push the boundaries of what’s expected in games, and It Takes Two is going to make your head spin! We’ve taken all our learnings from our previous games and kicked it up a notch, linking the narrative and gameplay mechanics for a genre-bending experience. Players will journey through crazy challenges in a fantastical world unlike anything they’ve ever seen. It’s going to be completely different from what people have come to expect from a co-op game!”
EA – Steve
Steve Pointon, SVP 3rd Party Content & Development at Electronic Arts:
“We’re incredibly excited to be working with Hazelight for their second EA Originals release. Hazelight has a very unique method of storytelling that weaves gameplay and narrative together, leading to a deeply immersive and exciting experience. We can’t wait for everyone to experience first-hand the innovation, talent and craftsmanship that went into creating this game.”
It Takes Two will be available on March 26, 2021, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC; Pc players can purchase the game via Origin and Steam for $39.99. Players who purchase It Takes Two on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade to its next-gen counterpart for free.
