Each year, developers look for new and creative ways to celebrate the seasons with their community. During Halloween, many developers go into the spooky spirit, releasing free Halloween patches. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Among Us, Fortnite, and Pokemon GO were just a few of the games with Halloween themed events. With the December holidays underway, game developers are starting to announce their plans for the season. Earlier today during Treyarch’s developer live stream, the team discussed new content planned for Black Ops Cold War. A new seasonal game mode called Jingle Hells for Call of Duty Zombies.
Like other seasonal events, characters and bosses will have different designs during the event. At one point during the stream, a sleigh led by reindeer can be seen flying past the starting area. In Jingle Hells, Treyarch is changing up the Zombie’s formula by removing the Mystery Box. The Santa that can be seen flying across is a Megaton who steals away the mystery box.
In its place, Treyarch has added mysterious snowball piles around the map that you can throw at zombies. Once the zombies are frozen and shattered, a new item will be dropped. Zombies can now leave behind presents. These presents can reward you with equipment, perks, weapons, or coal. These present drops can be positive with rewards or have negative effects that have yet to be announced.
In addition to presents replacing the mystery box, new visual objects will be added to the map. A Santa Hat zombie was shown bursting through a snowman. At the starting area, lights spelling out Happy Holidays will also be added to the game. Developers also showed the new cruise missile kill streak added to zombies.
Your Thoughts
What do you think of the Jingle Hells Game mode? Will it put you in the holiday spirit or have you been bad this year and expect coal? This will be a fun addition to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Maybe the Jingle Hells Zombies game mode will stay around past December.
