No story remains untold. After stealthily appearing on the video game radar from time-to-time, the sci-fi dystopia point-and-click adventure Encodya has finally made its way to Steam. This ambitious and creative point-and-click trades the action-heavy orientation, that comes with most games in the setting, and focuses in favor of a young girl, her robot, and their survival in a dysfunctional futuristic world.
The news comes from Uberstrategist and is accompanied by a large trailer from Assemble Entertainment. Encodya takes place in Neo Berlin of 2062, in a world of grotesque humans and hulking robots. Tina lives alone on the street with her hulking robot companion, SAM-53. She has learned to survive all her life, doing what she can to survive in a harsh, gray world. One fateful evening, Tina discovers a hidden message from her father, revealing one grand master plan to save the world and create a better future. Emboldened and encouraged, Tina and SAM-53 set off on a grand adventure to create a brighter future and discover not the meaning of humanity but what it means to be alive.
Encodya is a passionate labor of love, clearly inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli with the visual style of Blade Runner. Everything that is seen and heard to Encodya has been made in house by the development team at Assemble Entertainment. The team had previous experience in the film industry, giving Encodya not only a heartfelt story, but a visual flair that looks and feels cinematic and large in scope. The team focused on creating a lived-in world, complete with music, voice work, and a strong narrative where the characters interact and play off each other. The development team wanted the player, and the characters to feel the world around them.
Other features of Encodya include the following.
- Entirely Original Soundtrack and Audio: Not only will players enjoy a unique, custom soundtrack, but everything from the character dialogue to the advertising jingles are self-produced audio tracks, not simply sound bites from an audio-library
- A Robust Script: To really bring the world of Encodya to life, more than 4,000 lines of dialogue provide an engaging and immersive cinematic experience
- This Puzzle Was Different Last Time…: Puzzle randomization adds replay value and a fresh challenge for players looking to enjoy multiple trips to Neo-Berlin
- A Full Cast of Characters: With 34 distinct NPCs, the dystopian world of Neo-Berlin is brought to life with a whole host of fully-realized individuals
