The wrath is coming and coming soon. 1C Entertainment announced the release of the final major content update for WRATH: Aeon of Ruin. This final update marks the last stop for WRATH: Aeon of Ruin before it releases in Summer 2021. Taking into account the various forms of feedback from Early Access players, WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is poised to be a major release for later this year.
The news comes from 1C Entertainment through a press release. WRATH: Aeon of Ruin’s final update includes a conclusion to the first hub world, complete with a new enemy. The update includes a large new area, The Hollow, a dark forested area that holds great darkness, but also great reward. Courageous players can obtain the Trinket of Deflection, an item that deploys an arcane shield for protection against various threats. Within the forest lies a new enemy, The Lurker, an aquatic enemy that uses the depth for protection and to attack.
With this update, WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is delayed until Summer 2021, where the game is expected to launch on all consoles and PC platforms. The delay will allow for more refinement and tuning for the game’s final launch. As expected, with the COVID-19 pandemic still raging across the planet, this has placed great challenges ahead of the team in regards to communication and development. Despite this, the team has continuously delivered on its promises, delivering new content and updates in a timely manner, which is a commendable effort in today’s times. Frederik Schreiber, VP of 3D Realms and Producer on WRATH: Aeon of Ruin, reflects on the delay decision, “While delays are never ideal, we wanted to release one awesome final update before going heads down to knock this out of the park. Summer may seem far away, but we are working diligently to make WRATH the best game it can be.”
I’ve seen WRATH: Aeon of Ruin for the past several years at various PAX events, but each time, the game has continuously impressed me with all of the smallest of details that culminate to an excellent shooter. The imaginations of the weapon, and their feedback, display that signature trademark feeling of a 3D Realms game. The visuals are imaginative and wonderfully dark and gothic. The fast, sublime speed of the gameplay invokes the sensation of an older shooter,r such as Quake. WRATH: Aeon of Ruin was already impressive when first announced several years ago. Without a doubt, WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is shaping to be one of the best shooters of the year.
WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is set for launch on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One this Summer 2021
