The battle for freedom expands to the stars. All In! Games and developer 3Mind Games has announced an ambitious new tactical RPG heading to Steam Early Access, The Protagonist: EX-1. Featuring an ambitious sci-fi story, with rich characters and action with a focus on martial-arts, The Protagonist: EX-1 is shaping to be a distinctive tactical offering in a diverse arena.

The news comes from Terminals, the online key distribution and PR systems from Evolve PR. The Protagonist: EX-1 is heading to Steam Early Access to begin a long period of play and testing before launching. The Early Access version will contain four levels, each large and in=depth to familiarize players with The Protagonist: EX-1’s deep tactical combat systems, and the overall setting in which The Protagonist: EX-1 takes place in. Expect a steady stream of content from the developer over the span of The Protagonist: EX-1’s time in early access, which includes new enemies, new levels, new weapons, and much more.
The Protagonist: EX-1 takes place in the deep future, where humans unexpectedly come in contact with a hostile alien race. High above the Earth, or Terra, a large alien craft orbits the planet. The Terran government devices a plan to infiltrate the ship using an advanced special operations team, and neutralize any threats in one swift stroke. Almost immediately, the mission goes terribly wrong, and the team’s leader, Angel, awakens in the ships’ infirmary, with no memory as to how she got there. Relying on an unlikely ally, Angel and her team must use any means to eliminate the threat and protect Terra from destruction. The Protagonist: EX-1 uses a unique gameplay mechanic, the appropriately named Martial Arts Combat System, a system based on real-life martial arts. Similar to games such as Valkyria Chronicles players will have more direct control over their character’s actions when it is their turn.
