The April 2021 Games with Gold Seems Like A Joke

April 2021 Games with Gold is a Joke

At the end of last month, many waited to hear what the April Games with Gold would be. After the acquisition of Bethesda was successful, many suspected that April’s Games with Gold offer would contain a Bethesda title. Additionally, with the announcement that Outriders would launch on Xbox Game Pass, many expected a Square Enix or People Can Fly title to accompany it. Now, the April 2021 Games with Gold have been revealed and many feel underwhelmed. In addition to Outriders joining Xbox Game Pass, MLB the Show 21 will launch on Gamepass as well. These announcements show Microsoft is focused on Gamepass more than Xbox Live.

If you have not already heard or seen, the April 2021 Games with Gold offers have been revealed. Throughout the month of April, Gold and Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to download Vikings: Wolves of Midgard,
Truck Racing Championship, Dark Void, and Hard Corps: Uprising. Vikings: Wolves of Midgard ($39.99 ERP) will be available from April 1st to 30th. On April 16th, Truck Racing Championship ($59.99 ERP) will become free to download until May 15th. Additionally, Dark Void ($14.99 ERP): will be free from April 1st to 15th. Finally, Hard Corps: Uprising ($14.99 ERP): will take Dark Void‘s place and be free from April 16th to 30th.

If you look into any of these four titles, each has relatively average reviews. Dark Void comes in at the lowest review around a six out of ten. So why these titles? The lineup is rather diverse but lackluster. If you compare these four titles to the April PlayStation Plus 2021 offer, they fail in comparison; it seems Microsoft wants people to buy into Game Pass rather than their Xbox Live Gold program. Why play these four titles when you could play Days Gone, Oddworld: Soulstorm, or Zombie Army 4:Dead War?

Come on Microsoft! Do better? What do you think of the April 2021 Games with Gold offers? Do you think that Microsoft is prioritizing Game Pass rather than Xbox Live Gold?
