Cowboy Bebop Announces Yoko Kanno Will Score The Series; Fall 2021 Release Confirmed

As a part of #Geekedweek, Netflix has released a new promo for the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. As the cast jams to the iconic theme, Netflix announced composer Yoko Kanno will be coming aboard the series. Cowboy Bebop centers on the titular Bebop crew as they hunt down the highest bounties they can so they can keep their ship flying. The show Stars John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black  and Magic City’s Elena Satine as the love of Spike’s life Julia, The project comes from Tomorrow Studios-the same company behind the upcoming One Piece adaptation- and X-Men Evolution writer Chris Yost. The music has always been a key piece of what made Cowboy Bebop such an iconic series, Kanno’s work making series stand out from various other series of the time. This announcement is a benchmark of sorts for this troubled production from Cho’s injury leaving just three episodes completed to all of the delays associated with the  Pandemic. Thankfully, back in November, the crew of the Bebop got back to work and finally finished filming in March. While we weren’t able to get a concrete date for when fans can see these characters on screen, it’s great that the cast confirmed the fall 2021 release date. Hopefully, we’ll get a peak at some footage soon if only to get a feel for Kanno’s new take on Bebop.

Are you excited about Kanno coming back for the latest iteration of Shinichirō Watanabe’s creation, or were you hoping that another composer would put their stamp on the show? Will you be eating some bell peppers and beef when the show premieres this fall? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to Marooners’ Rock for more TV and Movie news!
