EVERSPACE 2 Adds Zharkov: The Vortex in July

A major content update is coming to EVERSPACE 2 next month. Today, developer ROCKFISH Games released an early look at the second major Early Access addition to the popular space combat sim. The update, now known as “Zharkov: The Vortex” will add a third star system, more story, and new natural hazards and weapon types.

EVERSPACE 2 released onto Steam Early Access and GOG on January 2021. The current roadmap slates that the game will continue to receive new major content updates until its ultimate full release in Summer 2022. It currently features over twenty-five hours of gameplay, two major systems to explore, and a variety of weapons, upgradable ships, and places to explore. In addition to the items noted above, “Zharkov: The Vortex” will bump up the player level cap, add a new companion, and throw a new light fighter class into the pool of available ships.

Oooh, pretty pictures…

That’s the thing about EVERSPACE 2. Even though it’s got almost another year to go in Early Access development, it’s already got more gameplay content than a lot of the classic space combat games of old.  In an era where the space sim niche is dominated by two names, it’s nice to have additional options.

We’re continuing to cover the game, and are looking forward to diving into this new update. For even more EVERSPACE 2 news, the ROCKFISH Games team shows off content from their latest stable dev build on their Twitch channel every Friday from 2pm – 4pm Eastern time.

The ROCKFISH Games GmbH team was founded by industry veterans Michael Schade and Christian Lohr. After successfully crowdfunding the original EVERSPACE on Kickstarter in 2015, the company went on to have another successful Kickstarter to get things going for EVERSPACE 2 in 2019. Like most good sequels, EVERSPACE 2 attempts to build on the successful legacy of the original game, while expanding on the things that players enjoyed and remedying some of the underlying deficiencies of its predecessor.
