First Trailer for Kevin Smith’s Netflix Series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Revelations Arrives Online

Netflix has released the first trailer for Kevin Smith’s highly anticipated anime He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The series features the voices of Supergirls Chris Wood, Star Wars legend Mark Hamill and Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar as Prince Adam/He-Man, Skeletor and Teela respectively. This sequel to the original Filmation series is produced by Netflix and Mattel and animated by Power House Animation Studios with Smith as showrunner.

The series is set to debut on July 23rd. You can watch the trailer below:

Set to “Holding Out For A Hero”, there are clips of our favorite characters in extremely well-done fight scenes (something we can largely attribute to the folks at Powerhouse who told Smith that they would handle them without any specific directions in the script) as well as a look at Prince Adam’s transformation.

While it’s a little jarring to have the Bonnie Tyler classic in the trailer, what’s on display is great with the stand-out animation that somewhat recalls the style of the 2002 series.

First announced at Power Con in 2019, following months of hints on the aforementioned Fatman Beyond, fans have been looking forward to this for a long time. The Clerks Director-who’s has a bit of experience with the medium via his work on the animated iteration of the first view askew film- has embraced the animation format in a much bigger way the last couple of years with animated iterations for both He-Man and Green Hornet having been announced. With the former being further along in development, Smith has been hyping He-Man on his show for some time. The acclaimed filmmaker would tell fans how work was going and even had Wood and the rest of the writing team as guests.

Brett has always been a huge fan of movies, particularly anything involving the DC Universe, Scooby-Doo, or gangster films. When it comes to gaming, he’s up for anything as long as it involves fighting games, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or Pokémon. He likes pretty much anything, except pineapple on pizza. . . His ultimate goal is to be a novelist.
