Frontier Developments has set off onto a new frontier in the world of Jurassic Park. Jurassic World Evolution 2 (JWE2) has been officially announced by Frontier Development, bringing an entirely new evolution to the highly-acclaimed foundation set by its predecessor.
The news comes from Frontier Developments and is accompanied by a trailer and details. The pre-rendered trailer focuses on a pterodactyl, flying through the terrain, showcasing the ideas of Jurassic World Evolution 2. In the trailer, a large aviary dome is seen, along with the famous brachiosaurus as seen in the first movie. In the distance, mountains can be seen, something unlike the Rocky Mountains of the Pacific Northwest, The trailer features narration from Dr. Ian Malcom, observing the consequences of science and humans, and the reality that humanity now enters a very different world. As the trailer concludes, a T-Rex infamously steps in the mud, a small nod to the first Jurassic Park.
The press release from Frontier promises a significant number of new features for Jurassic World Evolution 2. For the first time, players will be able to build pard beyond the Muertes Archipelago, evidenced by the tall mountains seen in the trailer. Jurassic World Evolution 2 will take place in the events immediately following the conclusion of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where Isla Nublar has been decimated in a volcanic eruption and dinosaurs have now broken free into the world of man.
As players are encouraged to create beyond the Muertes Archipelago, players have access to various biomes, from arid desert to lush forest. Players will help contain, conserve and care for more than 75 prehistoric species, including a highly requested addition: flying and marine dinosaurs as well as community-favorite dinosaurs. JWE2 will feature a bevy of new features to animal AI, creating new behaviors for the dinosaurs.
Finally, Jurassic World Evolution 2 features several new modes. For players looking to cut right into the action, Jurassic World Evolution 2 will contain a campaign mode. Members of the Jurassic World cast return, including Jeff Goldblum as Doctor Ian Malcolm and Claire by Bryce Dallas Howard. Following the campaign, players can create their perfect park in the improved sandbox mode.
City building and management games are not very common in the current gaming climate, so it is extremely pleasant to see a new one enter the spotlight. Jurassic World: Evolution was an unexpected hit with players when it launched in 2018, remarking the uniqueness of the games and its focus on caring for dinosaurs. While the third Jurassic World film is still quite a ways away, Jurassic World Evolution 2 is looking to make a big mark on the gaming space as large as the foot of a T-Rex.
Jurassic Evolution 2 launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Steam. A Switch version was not announced at this time.
