Stealth-Action game Republique gets re-release and PSVR version for Summmer

The battle of the future takes place through a war of information. Public Relation specialists popagenda, along with developer Camouflaj have announced Republique Anniversary Edition a re-release of Republique in time for the game’s  10th Anniversary. This re-release includes a spectacular physical edition release of Republique, which was featured during Limited Run Game’s E3 Showcase.

Coming hot off their release of the highly successful Iron Man VR, Camouflaj is set to return to its roots and breathe new life into its first big release, Republique. A stealth-action adventure in a dystopian cyberpunk future, Republique sees players play as Hope, and must guide her out of a totalitarian regime, where information is heavily monitored and state-sanctioned surveillance is everywhere. Republique is told through the lens of Hope and the perils of government surveillance in the Internet Age.  Republique features the voice talents of James Holloway, Jennifer Hale, and the voice of Solid Snake, David Hayter.

New to the Republique Anniversary Edition is a full-fledged remastering from developer Skymap games, introducing a refreshingly new presentation and update for controls. The most exciting addition is the inclusion of a mode for PSVR. No details or gameplay footage was shown but based upon Camouflaj’s previous works with Iron Man VR, the inclusion of such a mode in a game like Republique is incredibly ambitious. Finally, other details include a never-before-released commentary. The physical release is heading to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Republique was released on Oculus in 2019, and while no details of the PSVR version were released. it is likely that the experience for the PSVR version of Republique will be similar to the Oculus version. The fact remains that the re-release of Republique comes at an exciting time. The general consensus among players is a return to stealth-action, with many clamoring for a return of Splinter Cell, and while Hope is not Sam Fisher, the focus on using stealth to successfully evade and defeat a more powerful fore is nonetheless intriguing. The genre is sorely needed in today’s gaming space, and this re-release, coupled with a PSVR version, is sure to excite.

Republique Anniversary Edition launches this Summer for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, both digitally and physically.
