Ted Prequel Series In Development At Peacock

Ted Prequel Series In Development At Peacock

The Peacock streaming service has ordered a prequel series to the 2012 comedy Ted. Family Guy star/creator Seth MacFarlane is in negotiations to reprise the titular character from the film, which also starred Transformers Age of Extinction’s Mark Wahlberg as John Bennet and MacFarlane’s  Family Guy costar and That 70’s Show alumna Mila Kunis as John’s girlfriend, Lori. Other than MacFarlane there are no plans for either costar to appear in the new series.

The first Ted film-which centered on a talking teddy bear who came to life after a childhood wish from John- marked MacFarlane’s directorial debut and made over 500 million at the box office. Following his work on the western comedy A Million Ways To Die In The West, MacFarlane returned to the thunder buddies for a sequel In 2015. Originally, Ted 2 was supposed to center on John and Ted going on a drug-smuggling road trip only for that idea to be scrapped when We’re the Millers was released. While MacFarlane was able to craft a new story for the film, the dismal reception became the subject of more than a few Family Guy jokes, leaving the future of the franchise an open question.

In the age of streaming, it totally makes sense to bring the franchise back for another go-round. While the series had some fairly transparent similarities to Family Guy beyond the creative team, there’s a lot more to explore with everyone’s favorite talking Teddy bear. Hopefully, the deal with MacFarlane comes together and Peacock will have another great offering for fans.

Are you excited that Ted is coming back or do you think this is going to be another unnecessary prequel? Will Patrick Stewart return as the narrator? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to Marooners Rock for more TV and gaming news!!!

His ultimate goal is to be a novelist.
