Earlier this month, the supposed lineup for the August 2021 PlayStation Plus was leaked. The leak came from the official Sony website but was reported by Push Square. At the time, the three titles seemed rather obscure based on the July 2021 PlayStation Plus offers. The July 2021 PlayStation Plus offers granted PS+ members: A Plague Tale: Innocence, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, and WWE 2K Battlegrounds. With such notable titles, the August line-up feels underwhelming; however, it is probably a good idea for Sony to distance itself from Activision due to the ongoing Activision-Blizzard lawsuit. So here is the safe August PS+ line-up.
Today, Sony has confirmed that the leaked August 2021 PlayStation Plus titles are legitimate. Starting on August 3rd, PlayStation Plus members will have access to Hunters Arena: Legends, Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville, and Tennis World Tour 2. Although this lineup feels rather lackluster, it could provide PS+ members with memorable experiences. Over the last decade, EA has lost the respect of the gaming community due to publishing the same franchise year in and year out with very few changes. Luckily for EA, nostalgia (Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Dead Space), Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, and Apex: Legends have bought them some respect.
Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville is another EA spin on Battle Arenas. Choose between 20 fully customizable character classes and battle against your friends for neighborhood control. Plants vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville launched in 2019 on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One. In all honesty, we forgot this game was even in development due to the sheer amount of battle arenas in existence. The game received good reviews averaging a 7 out of 10.
If you like Fortnite-style PVP and PVE but hate Fortnite, it might be worth giving Hunters Arena: Legends a try. The game is a 30-man battle royale where players will have to watch out for other hunters and demons.
Which will you choose?
Which of the August 2021 PlayStation Plus titles will you choose to play? Personally, I can not stand tennis so I will be avoiding that like the plague. Out of the three, I will probably try out Hunters Arena: Legends.
