Call of Duty and World War 2 enthusiasts prepare, Call of Duty is continuing with boots on the ground gameplay. Despite Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War following through on their promise, many felt unsatisfied. Upon release, Black Ops Cold War faced an uphill battle; the game was released before it was ready and fasted a variety of challenges. Buggy gameplay, limited zombies, a rushed story, and hacks plagued Cold War. Will Call of Duty Vanguard face the same battles?
On August 19th, 2021 Activision and Sledgehammer Games unveiled the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty Vanguard; many speculate that it was the Call of Duty that was supposed to be released in 2020 but was pushed back due to falling behind on deadlines. If this was the case, we could have seen a linear progression of Call of Duty narratives from WW2 leading up to the events in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Call of Duty Vanguard is the story of the special Task Force One as they seek to stop their enemies around the globe. The game will feature a new campaign, 20 multiplayer maps, and a Zombies’ experience. This is the second time the Zombies game mode will appear in a Sledgehammer Games Call of Duty. In their press release, Activision stated that the new Zombies will be a “franchise-first crossover for Call of Duty.”
Additionally, Warzone will see an update to tie into Call of Duty Vanguard.
Campaign Details
Call of Duty Vanguard will feature a single-player campaign with four playable and unique characters. These four characters must rise through the ranks and trenches to claim valor and fight off tyranny. Huntdown Hitler’s successor and stop the rise of the 4th Reich. The four playable characters are:
- Private Lucas Riggs, 20th Battalion, Australian 9th Infantry Division, British Eighth Army.
- Sergeant Arthur Kingsley of the 9th Parachute Battalion, British Army.
- Lieutenant Wade Jackson, Scouting Squadron Six, United States Navy.
- Lieutenant Polina Petrova of the 138th Rifle Division, Red Army.

Vanguard Zombies
The new Vanguard Zombies will tie in the Zombies Dark Aether Story of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. In order to provide this immersive story, Treyarch will be leading the development of Vanguard Zombies. Discover how the events witnessed in Black Ops Cold War tie into Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies. According to Activision, detailed information will be released on All Hallows Eve. Prepare for a Trick or Treat.
Other Things to Know!
Call of Duty Vanguard will be cross-platform upon release; players will no longer have to worry about losing their stats or progression if they change devices. PlayStation players will have first access to the open beta, but preordering Vanguard will also give early access. Preordering also gives instant access to the Night Raid Mastercraft on Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
Eight out of ten, Activision studios are currently assisting with the development of Call of Duty Vanguard or updated Warzone/ Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019).
According to a listing in the Microsoft Store, Call of Duty Vanguard Deluxe Edition will take up 270 GBS. The game’s file size could be due to Warzone, importing Cold War’s Zombies, Vanguard’s Zombies, multiplayer, and the campaign. Hopefully, the files will be able to be downloaded individually similar to Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. The base file size for Vanguard shows at 75 GBs.
Call of Duty Vanguard will release on November 5th, 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
