The Matrix Resurrections trailer has finally arrived. Featuring the return of Keanu Reeves Carrie Anne Moss Jada Pinkerton Smith and Lambert Wilson reprising their respective roles, the fourth film in the legendary franchise also stars Neil Patrick Harris, Aquaman, and Watchmen’s Yaya Abdul Mateen II (the latter of whom has been rumored to play a new version of Morpheus) alongside Sense8 stars Max Riemelt, Toby Onwumere, and Brian J Smith.
The Matrix Resurrections is co-written by Lana Wachowski, Cloud Atlas authors David Mitchell, and Aleksander Hemon. The fourth film is the first in the series to be solely Directed by Lana Wachowski.

In the wake of the cinema con footage, much of this trailer is not unexpected. From white rabbit playing over the trailer to Neo sitting in a counseling session and seemingly meeting trinity for the first time, all of this seems to be footage that has been readily available to the public in some form for a couple of weeks now. Finally being able to lay eyes on the footage it’s striking how many cues are being taken from the first film. That being said, there are a lot of curious questions that come to mind after watching what this trailer has to offer. For instance, why is Neo taking so many blue pills? Is this simply a way for the Matrix to keep Neo under control this time? Regardless, it’s going to be great to see Keanu Reeves back in his iconic role and I can’t wait to see the film when it debuts in theatres and HBO Max on December 22nd.
Was this trailer all you were hoping for or did it underwhelm you? Should the trilogy have just been left alone or is this the beginning of new life for the series?
