Danger Scavenger Now Available on PS4 and Xbox One

Danger Scavenger

Forever Entertainment is proud to announce that its cyberpunk twin-stick shooter has ascended to new heights. Following its release on Nintendo Switch and PC, Danger Scavenger is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox. The news comes from the Forever Entertainment Newsletter. Danger Scavenger made its debut in 2020 at PAX EAST 2020 in Boston Massachusetts, before being made available in Steam Early Access that year. Following a solid run in Early Access, Danger Scavenger was released in June of 2020 and was ported to the Nintendo Switch in Spring of 2021. Following the performance enhancement update for the Switch this past Summer, the cyberpunk shooting chaos is now available for PlayStation and Xbox.

Gameplay Thoughts

Danger Scavenger is a twin-stick isometric roguelike shooter, where players suppress the robot uprising not on the ground below but in the high rises above. Players choose one of several classes of mercenary and take to the rooftops, battling mechanized infantry turrets, and mechanical calamities. Each rooftop has a multitude of challenges and obstacles to overcome, but plenty of loot to attain, ranging from perks to crafting items to weapons. Players have an entire arsenal atop the city, from traditional submachines guns to laser rifles and multi-launching rockets. Players can play by themselves or with a friend to combat the mechanical chaos. As a roguelike, levels and challenges change with each playthrough, but each defeat is an opportunity to gain more tools, weapons, perks, and the ability to craft new items.

Having first played this at PAX EAST and subsequently, on the Nintendo Switch, Danger Scavenger is a solid twin-stick shooter roguelike that also happens to be very accessible and focused. Some roguelikes may appear simple, but greatly challenge players through their difficulty and willingness to constantly repeat. Great roguelikes, such as Neurovoider and ScoureBringer, reward the player with power and resources, adapting to the players’ skill and technique, creating a rewarding gameplay experience that is challenging but fair, as opposed to roguelike Blacksea Odyssey that crushes the players for hours and gives a constant crushing sensation of little progress made. Danger Scavenger certainly isn’t baby’s first twin-stick or roguelike but it strikes a fine balance between satisfying action, tight gameplay, and a difficulty setting that makes it fun to progress, even if the robot overlords constantly get in your way.

Danger Scavenger is now available for $9.99 digitally on the Xbox Live Store and PlayStation Store.
