The new Spider-Man No Way Home trailer has arrived online. Starring Tom Holland Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Benedict Cumberbatch. The film will mark what is likely the final time for Jon Watts at the helm of the franchise who will be moving on to the MCU iteration of Fantastic Four. You can watch the No Way Home trailer below:
This trailer very much feels like an outgrowth of the last as Dr. Strange goes into more detail about the ramifications of Peter messing up the spell, as we get a better picture of the villains of the film beyond Alfred Molina’s Otto Octavius (a name that Peter and his friends find funny). Throughout the trailer, we get glimpses of not only Doc ock but also Jaimie Foxx’s Electro, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and the lizard. Special mention here should also go to the brief shot of Sandman which given the divisive nature of Spider-Man 3 and where the character was left in that film is something of a surprise. The trailer then culminated in a shot of MJ falling from a building as Spider-Man dives after her, the scene being reminiscent of Gwen Stacy’s death. Overall, this trailer was if nothing else reassuring that we will very much get to see a return of many popular Spider-Man villains of the course of the last two decades. Here’s hoping that when the film arrives in theatres we’ll get to see Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield once again. We’ll find out one way or another when the film arrives in theatres on December 17th.
