It’s hard to kill a good warrior. During The Game Awards, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment unveiled the first trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the official sequel to the 2010 smash-shit action game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. After ten years of fans clamoring for a sequel, their prayers to The Emperor have been answered.
While you can check out the trailer revealing the game above. The trailer shown off during The Game Awards mostly unveils Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 through pre-rendered cinematics, depicting a trio of marines rescue a small contingent of Imperial forces from the scourge of Man’s most fearsome foes, the Genestealers. The marines, shoot, slice, and brutally eviscerate their foes with bolters and chainsaw blades. At the end of the trailer, went the battle has quieted, a lone soldier whispers, “His Angel’s!” upon laying eyes on a Marine donned in Ultra Marine armor. The trio stares from a balcony, seeing the carnage of the Genestealers swirl in front of them. The lead marine takes off his helmet, revealing Captain Titus, the protagonist of the first game, looked worn, but still as fierce and gritty as he was before. The very final moments of the trailer unveil some gameplay footage, revealing that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been in development for quite some time.
The press release sent over reveals that Titus will be fighting the Tyranids this time around. Captain Titus will also be voiced by actor Clive Standen, who starred as Bryan Mills in the Taken TV series and Rollo in History Channel’s Vikings. The release reveals the players will be put back onto the front lines of Humanity’s great war and don the superhuman strength of the Space Marines. Based on the last few scenes of the trailer, players can expect to employ brutal melee tactics, with aliens’ flesh and cold armor crashing against each other, spilling blood on the wartorn lands. Additionally, players will utilize a long list of firearms from bolters to flamethrowers. This is an all-out war, and players will need to think fast and strike hard to survive.
I played Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine in the Fall of 2011, in my first year at Stockton University. My friends and roommates were wowed at the dynamic and articulately made presentation, with bloody carnage and wild shooting woven into a fascinating sci-fi universe. Ever since that ending, in which Captain Titus is taken by The Inquisition on charges of heresy, seeing Captain Titus return was enlightening and beyond exciting for me. I was in my 20’s when I played the first game, and now this newest title will arrive as I am in my 30s. I can certainly imagine everyone who fired up the first game on their Xbox 360’s in 2011 got really excited to see a sequel after all these years. What comes next is anyone’s guess but Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine got into the world of Warhammer, and I encourage everyone to brace themselves for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be released on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
