The Holidays may be over, but with the New Year comes a new, fresh start, and EastAsiaSoft is starting things out in a big way. Unveiled earlier this morning, EastAsiaSoft has unveiled a new showcase of games in their EastAsiaSoft Showcase #8- New Year 2022. From twin-stick shooters to Transylvanian adventures, the New Year is off to a great start.
The news comes from Eastasiasoft, who teased the showcase in a tweet, then unveiled the showcase this morning on their Youtube channel. Nine games are being worked on for all current and last-gen consoles. The showcase began with a rousing partnership with Japanese studio, iDea Factory, known for their development of the infamous Hyperdimension franchise. In partnership with Idea Factory, EastAsiaSoft is bringing the sexy RPG comedy Seven Pirates H to the West, localizing the game for Western audiences. The game bills itself as a grand adventure of exploration, action, and fan service. Seven Pirates H to the West will have a physical collectors edition available in 2022, with pre-orders available later in the week.
Announced Games
January 12th, 2022 sees the release of an ambitious Transylvanian adventure, Demoniaca: Everlasting Night, a sexy side-scrolling RPG clearly inspired by the classic Konami series, Castlevania. Speaking of classics, the Contra-inspired Queeny Army arrives on January 18th, putting players in the shoes of a femme fatale fighting force hell-bent on liberating their city from oppressive invaders, through quick platforming and unedifying satisfying run-n-gun shooting. Following a massic success last year on various platforms, Trigger Witch is launching on PlayStation 5, with 120fps and haptic feedback options for the PS5 controller. Trigger Witch for PS5 launches January 21st, and anyone who has previously purchased Trigger Witch on the PlayStation 4 will receive Trigger Witch on PS5 as a free upgrade.
On January 28th, Cake Invaders, another partnership with Zoo Corporation, 1-4 players strap on a spacesuit and a minigun to defend their German-inspired bomb Kachin cakes, using a combination of classic vertical shooting and tower defense. On February 2nd, the Dead Tree of Rachiuna puts players into the role of a student, returning to find their home village deserted, and they themselves uncover the pieces of what just happened. Taking place in the same world as Task Force Kampas, El Grancho, launching February 9th, puts players into the role of an alien Coco as they use their special swinging power to fight back against the enemies that have tarnished their planet.
Arriving in Q1 2022 is Beat Souls, a beat and rhythm game where players listen to the groove of the tune to dodge obstacles, build their score, and obtain souls. In the spirit of the THQ classic, de Blob, Splash Cars puts players in the driver’s seat to express themselves freely across the town as a car racing across the grey town and spreading color, all while being chased by the cops. Splash Cars, like all the aforementioned titles, arrives in 2022.
A Successful Year
EastAsiaSoft had a stellar year in 2021 with a multitude of physical and digital releases, standing strong among the competition as the gaming landscape shifts and contends with the challenges and reality of today. Additionally, and must be mentioned, EastAsiaSoft successfully gave the PlayStation Vita a proper send-off, being the very last publisher and post-retailer service to release physical games for the Vita. As bittersweet as it is, EastAsiaSoft has been commended for staying true to releasing a solid physical portfolio for the Vita, earning the respect of many players.
In this new year without the Vita, it will be interesting to see how the physical launches unfold for EastAsiaSoft and what kind of games can be secured for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4/5. Perhaps it may be time for Xbox to enter the physical launch ring as well, with EastAsiaSoft spearheading the way. The year of 2022 has just begun, and there’s no telling what tomorrow brings, but EastAsiaSoft is coming in like that gorgeous super-powered anime waifu with a top that can barely contain her bust. And just like the metaphor, there ain’t no stopping EastAsiaSoft.
