Elden Ring Key Art

Pathetic Mortals and weak gamers around the world, prepare to die…. again. From Software’s next grueling game is set to make gamers around the world cry. Next month, From Software’s Elden Ring is set to release on February 25th, 2022. Two of the world’s best fantasy creators Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin have collaborated to create Elden Ring. With the release a little over a month away, new information keeps emerging showcasing upcoming details about the game. Below, we will discuss the Closed Network test details and the character customization tools that have emerged. Hopefully, this information will get you excited for the upcoming release.

Character Customization

During a leaked video, the video shows off the character customization tool. The video has since been removed but the video showed some weird modifications. Like other Souls games, character customization is a part of the game but not the major focus; however, the customization tool allows players to make their characters their own.

Players will have fun modifying their character’s hair, body shape, and face. Players will be able to choose their gender, initial class, body type, and age. The game also features multiple pre-made characters. In the customization tool, players can adjust their character’s scars, bruises, beauty marks, and colorings. Prepare to see some very interesting faces. Finally, the player will be able to choose their character’s skin color and alter the shapes of each part of the character’s body.

Sadly, the video showcased missing labels in the character creation tool. Elden Ring looks to offer the player a variety of customization tools that will put previous Souls games to shame.

Closed Test

During a Closed Network Test, YouTuber ER-SA provided a better look at Stormveil Castle. Based on the videos, the castle appears to be gigantic. For those looking to avoid spoilers, do not watch the videos below. Two of the videos captured by ER-SA have since been removed from YouTube. From the videos, we can tell that FromSoftware has put an exceptional amount of time into Elden Ring‘s graphics. In a statement to Edge Magazine, Hidetaka Miyazaki has this to say about the graphics.

Graphical fidelity is not something we put as the top priority. What we ask for on the graphics side depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself, and it takes less priority compared to the other elements of development.

So this is always an area where I feel a little bit apologetic towards my graphics team because I know they work extremely hard. And they’ve worked extremely hard on Elden Ring – our graphics-systems team and our programmers have been pushing a lot of new features to create the best-looking games we’ve ever made.

Elden Ring releases February 25th, 2022, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. You can check out our hands-on that Anthony wrote here on Marooners’ Rock.
