Pokémon Presents February 2022 Announcements

It’s clear as day that the Pokémon series has been on the up & up. Last year’s Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl brought remakes of two franchise favorites. January of this year introduced players to a very different Pokémon experience, in the form of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Earlier this morning, The Pokémon Company dropped their latest stream. The Pokémon Presents February 2022 presentation contained many updates on existing games, as well as some all-new reveals!

Pokémon Go Alola! Expansion

2016s Pokémon Go was developer Niantic’s experimental way to bring the fun of Pokémon outdoors. While initially starting out, Pokémon Go only contained the first 150 first-generation Pokémon. The mobile app has received various updates in the 6 years since its launch. Pokémon that first appeared Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon’s Alola region will begin to appear in Pokémon Go on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022. Until then, Alolan Exeggutor will be popping up on maps around the world.

Pokémon Masters EX 2.5 Year Celebration

This February marks the 2 and a half year anniversary of the Pokémon Masters EX mobile game. Since it’s launch, Pokémon Masters EX has surpassed 142 different trainers to battle. In this free update, the iconic location Victory Road is added, allowing for the return of many sync-pairs from previous Pokémon generations. This area will allow players a quicker, and more streamlined, way to power up their party. Completing Victory Road will unlock sync-pairs from the very 1st generation. This includes Red, Blue, and Leaf, as well as their corresponding Pokemon. This anniversary event kicks off tomorrow, February 28th, with May & Latias, with more sync-pairs arriving later. These special anniversary pairs will be available until March 31st, 2022.

Pokémon Cafe Remix Updates

The popular Pokémon puzzle game is receiving an all-new “delivery” mode. This feature sees the Pokémon Pelipper delivering players random items every 22 hours. These will range from tarts to actual Pokémon themselves. This feature also reveals all-Pokémon previously missing from Cafe Remix, such as Victini. New unlockable outfits and specialty power-ups are also available, greatly helping in the many challenges. In addition, there will be limited time events, that will spotlight specific Pokémon and unlock exclusive accessories. Genius Sonority, the game’s developers, has also confirmed more new Pokémon to celebrate the game’s second anniversary, this Summer.

Pokémon Unite Pokémon Day Event

Last summer’s Free To Play title, Pokémon Unite, allows players to pit Pokémon against each other in brawler styler action. Starting today, February 27th, “Full-Fury Battles” have been added to the game. This new type of battle allows for quick play sessions. Also revealed was that special event days will now appear, allowing players to play as any Pokémon they choose. For a limited time, in celebration of Pokémon Day, the Pokémon Hoopa warps into battle. Hoopa will be free to play as during the event, by using a limited license. By completing all of the special missions, players will be able to permanently unlock Hoopa’s Unite license.

 Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl – Oak’s Letter

starting today, February 27, 2022, Oak’s Letter will be available in both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. Trainers can receive Oak’s Letter by using the “Mystery Gift” feature. Once a Trainer receives Oak’s Letter, they can talk to Professor Oak on Route 224. He’ll ask for their assistance regarding a stone tablet. Assisting the Professor will unveil the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin. Trainers will have the opportunity to follow Shaymin around the map, gaining the opportunity to add them to their party.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus Update

Software update version 1.10, dubbed “Daybreak” is available now. This update brings additional missions, revolving around the mysterious mass Pokémon outbreaks occurring around the Hisui region. Players will also be given an opportunity to challenge Legendary Pokémon, greatly adding to the plethora of changes to the Pokemon franchise. To celebrate Pokémon Day,  players can also receive a gift of items, which includes 30 Ultra Balls, 30 Gigaton Balls, and 30 Jet Balls. Entering the password “ARCEUSADVENTURE” in the Mystery Gifts section on Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ menu, will unlock grant players the items.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus Anime

Confirmation that an animated series, set in the Hisui region, has begun production. While not much else is known, the series will feature an original storyline and is expected to release exclusively online sometime in late 2022.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Announcement

Game Freak’s final announcement was the reveal of the main franchise’s next evolutionary step. Many of the changes made to Pokemon Legends: Arceus are returning, this time to the mainline series.  Large open-world environments, where wild Pokemon are spotted in their natural habitats, are back! Unlike Arceus, various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness. Also revealed was the introduction to this generation’s starter Pokémon. Trainers can choose between Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon, Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon, or Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon to be their first partner Pokémon before setting off on their journey.
